Synopsis

A pall of hunger hangs over Rome. Months of dwindling grain supplies have culminated in a dire situation, threatening unrest. To avert open rebellion, Octavian dispatches Atia and Octavia to Alexandria, charged with securing an agreement with Mark Antony. Yet, the true purpose of their mission will soon be revealed. In Rome, meanwhile, Titus Pullo and Lucius Vorenus struggle to maintain order among the city's burgeoning mercenary population.
