I'm having mixed feelings about this documentary. It’s Rome; you simply can’t explore many aspects of its history without confronting some pretty unpleasant and overtly sexual content. After all, this was the society that invented things like strap-ons and earrings in the form of male body parts. I appreciate the choices made to streamline it for a wider audience and avoid an explicit rating. However, I feel it’s more crucial to explain how Roman civilization influenced the world than to focus solely on who the Romans were as people. That said, there's still considerable nudity and sexual activity depicted, suggesting an attempt at some degree of authenticity... But ultimately, they missed the mark regarding historical accuracy in many other areas—events and customs that are truly significant. To me, this is a serious flaw, even considering the need for adjustments to make it accessible.
