Synopsis

The abduction of a prominent member of the London County Council brought Reid into contact with Councilor Jane Cobden, the first woman ever appointed to the LCC – it seemed the kidnappers were radical proponents of Cobden’s agenda. Long Susan was taken by force to the gang's hidden dwelling, and soon found herself developing a surprising sympathy for her captors’ lives and aspirations.
