This BBC crime drama is truly the finest of its kind, taking place in Victorian times. To be truthful, though, the show’s second season ended suddenly, but then it was revived; I think they really should have stopped after series 3. The fourth installment didn’t live up to expectations and series 5 just felt unpleasant. It seems that series 3 concluded at precisely the right point, and stopping there would have been ideal. Despite this, Ripper Street remains a wonderful program, and praise is due to the actors in the main roles.
