The essence of Ray Donovan can be captured by one descriptor: 'Bunchy.' This character truly anchors the series. It’s conceivable a future program could emerge, titled something like The Bunchy Bunch; that would certainly be welcome. The other individuals involved are perfectly acceptable as well. Mickey Donovan consistently finds himself in trouble, and Terry is an endearing boxer. Ray tends to be taciturn but capable of resolving problems with a baseball bat. Abby frequently experiences betrayal, and Ray’s children, Bridget & Conner, occasionally express frustration with their rough, unfaithful father. There's also the intriguing half-brother Darrell, who resulted from Mickey's affair; he adds another layer to the story. With various supporting players added to the mix, it makes for a fairly enjoyable program that I understand is currently in its sixth season. It’s remarkable how quickly years pass. Watch it for Bunchy and remain for the Boston accents and the inclusion of characters involved with child abuse.
