Tim, a young boy working at the factory, was killed in an explosion while performing some welding tasks. Arnold Chatham, one of Asten’s leading investigators, felt instinctively that the tragedy shouldn’t have occurred. His inquiries revealed a startling fact: Tim was unable to read. Now, driven by this unsettling discovery, Chatham pressed on with his investigation, even as Quincy attempted to unravel how a boy with such a fundamental deficit could have progressed through the education system.
