Synopsis

The tip arrived with a sharp edge, lodging itself uncomfortably in Emmett’s mind. He felt a familiar surge of anger, hot and immediate. Melanie and Lindsay were insistent: Ted was an addict. The accusation hung in the air, heavy and unwelcome. Emmett, struggling to contain his fury, finally managed a weary request. "Ted," he said, his voice roughened with emotion, "would you be willing to share your story?" He needed to understand, to grasp the reality behind their words.
