Synopsis

The world was on the cusp of a musical revolution, yet its loudest roar wouldn't be heard in Peoria. Unless Sam, broadcasting as DJ Howlin' Chick Howell, could somehow shield his radio station from the disapproval of the town's most staunch conservatives. Peoria, Illinois, September 9, 1959: Rock and roll was poised for greatness, but its path depended on one man’s ability to navigate a sea of small-town prejudice.
