Trying to give Power Rangers a comprehensive rating is an odd undertaking, given how much the show has changed over time. The cast and storylines shift almost annually, ownership has been inconsistent, and there are even multiple timelines now. Because of this, the quality varies considerably from season to season. It also exists as an adaptation of the Japanese series Super Sentai. Should each season be judged on its own merits? If so, Time Force stands out as one of the stronger entries, though it’s quite similar to the slightly better Timeranger, which might mean Lost Galaxy holds more value overall. Or should quality be assessed for the show as a whole, even when some seasons are easily forgettable? In that case, Power Rangers isn't particularly good. Though, it’s worth noting, so is The Simpsons. The era under Neo-Saban was especially problematic; Samurai, Megaforce, and Ninja Steel rank among the worst television seasons ever produced, while Dino Charge could charitably be described as adequate. However, RPM remains exceptional and can be enjoyed independently of other seasons. In Space has such a significant impact that it retroactively improves many weaker episodes from earlier in the series' run, and Dino Thunder is a well-executed legacy season. There are peaks and valleys, and some of those extremes rely on each other while others don’t. Power Rangers is a _weird_ series. The show is now in the Hasbro era, which has been decent so far. Beast Morphers wasn't perfect but demonstrated that the new owners at least had a basic respect for the franchise. Dino Fury was mostly acceptable as well. Neither season reached the heights of the Disney or post-Zordon periods. They were pleasant enough, though. There are too many issues to consider this series “good,” yet I find myself enjoying so much about it that calling it outright bad feels inaccurate. Therefore, I’m giving it a 6/10. With the exception of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers through In Space, you can start anywhere and largely ignore what came before; callbacks exist but aren't substantial. A score of 7 or higher indicates something good! Scores of 5 and 6 are fine or mixed!
