Synopsis

In a secluded coal-mining town in Siberia, Natalia Zubkova, a woman accustomed to domesticity before becoming a journalist, uncovers a dangerous secret: a long-dormant mine fire is spewing toxic gas into the homes of the residents. When her reporting gains widespread attention, the authorities initiate a forceful campaign to conceal the truth, placing her squarely in their path.
