Synopsis

Thirty years ago, Houda al-Habash, a conservative Muslim preacher, established a Qur’an school for girls in Damascus, Syria. Each summer, her students dedicate themselves to an intensive study of Islam. A notable cultural change is unfolding – women are increasingly asserting their presence within mosques. Captured just before the Syrian uprising, 'The Light in Her Eyes' presents an exceptional portrayal of a pioneering figure.
