The wind whipped around them, a constant, insistent presence. Below, the world stretched out, a patchwork of fields and distant towns, rendered small and insignificant. Kathy gripped the harness, her knuckles white against the worn leather. Beside her, Brian adjusted his goggles, a nervous habit he’d developed over the past few months. He’d always lived life with a certain recklessness, a disregard for the boundaries others so carefully constructed. “Beautiful, isn't it?” he asked, his voice
