Following Paul’s departure, Ash extended a hand to Chimchar, offering it a fresh start – an invitation to join his team. The Pokémon accepted Ash's proposal with eager enthusiasm. Together, Ash and Paul fought side-by-side in the tournament semifinals, facing off against Brock and Holly. Their combined efforts propelled them to the finals, where they found themselves pitted against Dawn and Conway.
