Synopsis

Outdoor play is arguably more vital than ever, particularly given the increasing hours children now spend absorbed by screens. Yet, children at play inevitably generate noise. While some find the boisterous sounds of their games – the shouts, the thwack of a ball – delightful, others are deeply troubled by it in today's densely populated Netherlands. The disturbance can be so significant that municipalities frequently face a difficult dilemma regarding how to navigate these competing interests.
