The demand for intensive care for those with dementia will rise in the years ahead, yet new spaces in nursing homes are not being created. Housing associations and healthcare providers express concern, as the planned 40,000 residential placements for individuals with dementia are significantly delayed. The question arises: where will people with dementia reside? And why has it taken so long to construct these homes, a challenge we have confronted for many years?
