Pinocchio — Season 1
Fresh out of school and brimming with idealism, Choe In-ha dives headfirst into a career as a broadcast reporter – a journey complicated by a rather unusual affliction: Pinocchio syndrome. Whenever she utters a falsehood, uncontrollable hiccups betray her, adding an unexpected challenge to her pursuit of truth. Joining her are a group of equally green colleagues: Gi Ha-myeong, whose unassuming exterior hides a brilliant mind and remarkable recall; Seo Beom-jo, a privileged heir navigating a world far beyond his gilded upbringing; and Yun Yu-rae, whose encyclopedic knowledge of pop culture often proves surprisingly useful in their reporting. Together, these young reporters chase down stories and wrestle with their own identities as they navigate the demanding world of broadcast news.

His family’s reputation lay in ruins, fractured by a reporter’s deceitful narrative that wrongly implicated his father. Stripped of his past, he forged a new identity: Choe Dal-po.

He maintained the guise of the school’s most disruptive student, a carefully constructed facade. Yet, when the quiz results revealed a perfect score, whispers erupted, and a quiet determination ignited within him. He resolved to prove himse…

In-ha told Dal-po she’d landed an interview – at MSC, where her mother worked. It was the culmination of three years of striving to become a reporter.

Dal-po and In-ha reached a mutual decision: they would apply to YGN. Dal-po’s father, however, had a surprise in store. He posed a delicate question to Dal-po.

He learned, then, that Dal-po had been chosen by YGN. In-ha continued to hiccup, though he assured her he’d spoken truly during their debate.

The night stretched ahead, vast and waiting. Dal-po watched as In-ha emerged from MSC, accompanied by Seo Beom-jo.

They felt certain of an exclusive arrangement—as did In-ha and Beom-jo. But a deeper look revealed something unsettling.

He hesitated, a reluctance clouding his words. The truth of his name, of his dealings with Gi jae-myeong, seemed locked away. He observed their striking resemblance, yet a persistent unease clung to him, a disquiet he couldn't quite shake…

He pleaded with In-ha, begging her to avoid speaking with Jae-myeong. He saw his family’s name in the news once more, but this time, twisted and cruel. In-ha learned a terrible truth about her mother.

In the aftermath of the lecture, In-ha found herself relentlessly pressed by her mother. The woman’s unwavering conviction of her daughter’s innocence was a constant, heavy presence. It was a stubborn insistence that chipped away at In-ha's…

He was known as Ha-myeong, but to Jae-myeong, he revealed himself as Ha-myeong. The request took him by surprise, and in recounting the tale, he finally understood the depth of Song Cha-ok’s actions.

Ha-myeong’s revelation catches Song Cha-ok off guard during the interview. Determined to reclaim his true identity, Ha-myeong resolves to resume his life.

He resolved himself to In-ha, yet grew indignant when Ha-myeong pursued a narrative that struck too close to home.

In the aftermath, In-ha sided with Beom-jo, and his attempts to reconstruct the department store narrative resulted in unforeseen complications. A chain of events unfolded, leading to a disruption of the investigation.

Ha-myeong vowed to shield his friend from the tangled narrative spun by An Chan-su. Yet, Jae-myeong feared such an act would unearth painful echoes of the past.

Ha-myeong worried the story of the waste-disposal plant fire would be lost in the relentless news cycle, just as Song Cha-ok had scoffed at the new evidence.

The weight of unspoken truths settled heavily between them. In-ha and Beom-jo faced those responsible, each delivering a reckoning for actions borne of others’ choices. Amidst the quiet confrontation, Song Cha-ok's voice cut through the te…

Ha-myeong, seeking an advantage against Park Ro-sa, relies on a newly emerged informant. However, both YGN and MSC find themselves facing unexpected opposition.

The revelation struck with force: Song Cha-ok’s orchestration of the media, her connections to Park Ro-sa – all laid bare. Beom-jo's subsequent statement to the police was nothing short of stunning.

She went to the police on Beom-jo’s behalf, but lost control when Ha-myeong asked how she felt about the media's coverage of her son.
