Synopsis

Carter Deming, a writer and the sole guest at the hotel, confided in Kate that he accomplished ten times as much work here as he ever did in his New York home. Uncle Joe informed Kate that her recent loan application had been denied by the bank. It struck Kate then that she’d never truly managed to make the hotel thrive. Mr. Deming unexpectedly offered to purchase the property from her. Unaware of this potential transaction, the girls expressed a longing to live in New York City. When Mr. Deming
