Synopsis

The second part of our story finds Homer Bedloe wielding considerable power over Pixley Bank, having recently dismissed its President, Mr. Guerney. He’s now resolved not only to seize Kate's mortgage but to foreclose on every troubled loan in the valley – a move that would render the Cannonball utterly superfluous. Meanwhile, The Shady Rest is preparing for a Monte Carlo night, a small-scale fundraiser where the player accumulating the most play money will be awarded a secret grand prize. Betty
