The ostentatious art collector Otto Olney hosted a lavish party to commemorate his acquisition of a Gauguin. The celebration was abruptly curtailed when Colin Durant, an art authority among the guests, declared the painting a forgery. Olney, incensed, sought out his lawyer, Perry, who advised him to sue Durant for libel.
