Synopsis

Irma Hodge’s step-father, Sumner Hodge, is deliberately delaying her inheritance due to his disapproval of her folksinger boyfriend, Con Bolton. Following an alleged attack on Sumner, he directs the police’s suspicion toward Con. A second attempt on Sumner’s life proves fatal; his car plunges over a cliff, the brake line having been deliberately cut. Witnesses subsequently testify that Con had been tampering with the brakes just prior to the crash, leading to his indictment for murder.
