Synopsis

Millie Crest and Fern Driscoll orchestrated a daring exchange of places. Assuming Fern's identity, Millie found herself in a precarious situation when she was forced to defend herself against the predatory private investigator, Carl Davis, and in the struggle, stabbed him. The wound, however, proved fatal; Davis succumbed to poisoning from the very injury he had inflicted. Now, seeking assistance, Millie turned to Perry, offering a meager thirty-eight cents in return.
