"Paradise" brings to mind “Silo,” another story about survivors living in an underground community designed to replicate a devastated world. At its heart, this series functions as a political thriller, depicting those in positions of authority struggling for dominance within their self-proclaimed ideal society. Despite the show’s attempts at intelligent storytelling and strong performances from the cast, it's undermined by what appears to be an agenda. I felt that the narrative unfairly assigns blame to people of European descent for global problems like food shortages and environmental issues impacting humanity. I also found the portrayal of the US Presidency to be unrealistic, especially considering current events such as the conflict in Iran—it’s far removed from how it's presented here and elsewhere in entertainment. Overall, while the initial concept is intriguing and the thriller aspects are decent, I believe the series suffers because of its insistence on promoting a particular viewpoint. It’s watchable but doesn’t reach the same level as “Silo.” Update: After watching season two, it's even more disappointing than the first. The plot feels disjointed, and they've amplified the problematic social messaging.
