From the 1970s into the early 1990s, contaminated blood products and transfusions infected over 30,000 people in the UK with HIV and Hepatitis C. This series of errors has been widely regarded as the most devastating treatment failure in the history of the National Health Service. Since then, approximately 3,000 of those infected have died, yet many of their families remain without compensation.
