Synopsis

As the new prime minister confronts difficult choices regarding government expenditure, Panorama reporter Richard Bilton examines the consequences of six years of austerity on his native town, Selby in North Yorkshire. Service reductions persist, and many residents are forced to cope with diminished resources. Can a burgeoning network of volunteers fill the resulting void?
