Synopsis

Originally broadcast in 1975, this episode of Panorama unfolds within the walls of Sandhurst, the Royal Military Academy. It charts the progress of a cohort of young men honing themselves for a career of command within the Army. These future officers, often described as ‘managers of violence,’ will be expected to uphold the most rigorous traditions of the British Army and remain ready to deploy their professionalism in defense of their nation, should the occasion demand it.
