It’s unclear exactly what this series intends to portray. Despite the name, the central figure, Obi Wan—referred to as "Ben"—appears to me to function more like a supporting character within his own limited story arc. He seems overshadowed and surpassed by a remarkably clever Princess Leia, and easily cowed by an aggressively driven inquisitor antagonist. This is all while he’s presented as one of the “greatest Jedi.” I believe the narrative would have been better served if the primary character was depicted as someone possessing considerable power but hesitant to employ it due to past events. Instead, Obi Wan comes across as ineffective and clumsy. Concerning the broader plot, similar to The Mandalorian, this story suffers from a lack of momentum and thrills. It’s centered on Jedi, yet so far there's been no dynamic lightsaber combat, and displays of Force abilities are surprisingly understated. The visual effects are impressive, and it’s clearly a high-quality production. The acting is consistently strong, which is to be expected considering the talent involved. However, ultimately, what's the intended message here? Why isn’t there a more assertive portrayal of a male lead? And why doesn't the storyline seem to revolve around Obi Wan? To put it plainly, after two rather dull installments, I feel quite certain I won’t be returning for a third.
