Synopsis

In 1965, radio astronomers Arno Penzias and Robert Wilson, working at Bell Telephone Laboratories, detected faint yet persistent microwave signals originating from space—the oldest and most distant signals ever observed by humankind: cosmic relics from the universe's infancy. *NOVA* examines the current wave of cosmological discoveries that are enabling scientists to delve deeper into the universe’s past, conducting a form of "cosmic archaeology."
