Synopsis

Ascend with volcanologists to the summit of Nyiragongo, a volatile peak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The mountain has erupted twice in recent years, each event devastating Goma, a city of a million inhabitants nearby. To understand the timing of its next eruption, scientists venture into the crater, approaching the churning lava lake to position sensors and observe the volcano’s behavior.
