Synopsis

In *NOVA*, a team of volcanologists undertakes a global quest for the remnants of a colossal eruption – one that plunged medieval Earth into an extended period of glacial cold. They seek evidence of a volcanic event of such magnitude as to have ejected a vast cloud of ash and sulfuric acid into the atmosphere, thereby chilling the planet to its core and transforming summer into winter across continents.
