Synopsis

As the Iraq War unfolded, other journalists found themselves embedded with military units. NOVA, however, focused on the urgent medical response, documenting the relentless work of doctors, nurses, and medics within a frontline Combat Support Hospital (CSH). The program chronicles the period of April and May 2003, when CSH units were overwhelmed by a constant stream of wounded Iraqi soldiers and civilians, left with minimal support from a healthcare system in ruins.
