Synopsis

Over the course of two hours, NOVA recounts the life of the man often called the father of modern science and his arduous fight to persuade the Church to embrace the reality of his groundbreaking discoveries. The program draws upon Dava Sobel's acclaimed book, *Galileo's Daughter*, which unveils a previously unseen dimension of the celebrated scientist: his most trusted companion was his illegitimate daughter, Sister Maria Celeste, a nun living in seclusion.
