Synopsis

NOVA offers a glimpse into the life of Joey Deacon, a man of fifty-four who has lived with cerebral palsy since birth. For much of his existence, Joey was isolated within institutional walls, unable to connect with others until he encountered Ernie Roberts. This documentary drama recounts Joey’s journey, featuring compelling portrayals by two actors with cerebral palsy, who embody him as a child and as an adult. The film culminates with appearances from Joey and Ernie themselves.
