Synopsis

On a Malaysian plantation, a colonial man grown weary of his surroundings enlists an unlikely helper: an earwig, in a grim scheme to eliminate a rival for a woman's affections. Meanwhile, military strategists, in a moment of careless amusement, nurture the dangerous ambitions of a brilliant scientist haunted by the loss of his daughter, unknowingly sowing the groundwork for a catastrophic future.
