The initial episodes were promising, with particular recognition going to Max Greenfield’s performance; I'm struggling to find an appropriate description for his character, but believe me when I say he is genuinely funny. Jake Johnson takes on a more grounded role, but the eccentricities of his character feel authentic and relatable, particularly his habit of attempting repairs. Lamorne Morris unfortunately stepped into the show late, only to have the original actor return; these changes are addressed within the storyline, yet they create an awkwardness for his part, serving as a reminder of early difficulties in production. Zoey’s character, though, becomes excessive as the season progresses. The appeal that she and her fellow actors initially brought diminished over time, eventually reaching a point where it was difficult to watch. Despite this, the first four seasons are enjoyable and will elicit laughter.
