Synopsis

A pall hung over the house. Piper watched Susan with growing concern; her mother seemed adrift, struggling to maintain focus. "Are you alright?" Piper asked, but Susan waved away the worry, suggesting a walk to clear her head. As Susan left, Piper felt a knot of apprehension tighten in her stomach. At number thirty, Steph offered Toadie counsel: to leave Nell undisturbed, rather than disrupt her life. Leo then delivered the news that Sonya had departed in a taxi, heading for treatment.
