This show really doesn’t feel like Nancy Drew at all. It's true that her character evolved throughout the books, but this version takes things way too far from what she originally was. The CW has produced something less successful with this than they did with Riverdale. What’s most frustrating is how frequently the show references a different Nancy Drew—the one who was apparently beloved by readers of the novels. Like Riverdale, I think I've already figured out what’s going on just a few episodes in. They seem to be prioritizing making it provocative and appealing through sexuality rather than crafting a solid story. Plus, there are signs of modern political themes that restrict the villains to specific demographics.
