This limited series held my attention, and I thought it was enjoyable overall. Like many productions with a significant amount of detail and layers, I suspect some people may have felt it dragged on. A spy story without much action? That’s disappointing. Those who prefer fast-paced adventures or fantasy stories might want to look elsewhere. I was glad to see how they navigated the complicated storyline involving several different connections between characters. It was pretty baffling, particularly after I looked up information about Eric on Wikipedia. Unless it's a deliberate attempt to distort historical events, I usually don’t mind when films alter details from their source material; movies have distinct requirements compared to books or journalistic pieces. The religious elements felt off-putting to me. Did the writer realize how strange it was for a priest to advise Alison to trust her husband despite lacking proof, and also to believe in God without any evidence? Personally, I think she would’ve been better portrayed as an atheist instead of relying on faith. But that's just my opinion; if that’s what they intended, then fine.
