Synopsis

It was 1869, and America had just culminated its most ambitious construction project yet: the Transcontinental Railroad. A slender thread of steel and timber now linked the eastern and western reaches of the nation. Yet this burgeoning country confronted an even more formidable task—how to direct the immense power of the railroad and subdue the vast, untamed West.
