Synopsis

The 15th annual Miss USA pageant took place on May 21, 1966, broadcast live from Miami Beach, Florida. That year, Idaho and South Dakota did not participate, marking the final Miss USA competition where every state was not represented. The following pageant with fewer than fifty-one delegates present during the live broadcast – the 1981 event – stemmed from a state representative's disqualification during preliminary judging.
