Mindhunter doesn’t offer much that feels new when it comes to crime dramas, drawing inspiration from movies like Silence of the Lambs and aiming for a feel reminiscent of the 1970s. However, this approach isn't sufficient to make the series successful. It needed something extra, but ultimately falls short. The show’s attempts at portraying criminal profiling come across as affected and occasionally absurd. Despite striving for gravitas, it shares more qualities with shows like Criminal Minds than perhaps its creators would prefer. Despite these shortcomings, it remains reasonably engaging due to the inherently dark subject matter and adequate performances from the cast. It's worth checking out if you’re curious, but don’t anticipate a remarkable experience. I give it a rating of 5/10.
