It's genuinely hilarious, this show. The actors aren't just talented individually; they really seem to click together. They tease and playfully criticize one another, but there’s an underlying sense of affection in their interactions. The humor continues steadily, and as the series progresses, it sometimes incorporates physical comedy, something Melissa McCarthy handles exceptionally well. Chuck Lorre is involved with the writing team—he also worked on Mom, which was a good show itself. If the program had ended after only three seasons, I’d consider it among the very best shows in recent memory. Around the start of season four (I believe), there appeared a statement onscreen expressing hope that audiences would approve of the changes they were making. Molly leaving her teaching position? Okay, a change is welcome. However, I started to feel uneasy when she chose to become a writer because it was obvious she’d achieve success quickly. That's just how these things usually play out on television—when a character starts writing, they succeed rapidly. It seems less common in movies, though; probably because the shows are written by people who already know what they’re doing. I have to admit, I’m likely just incredibly jealous that I’ve been writing novels for years and haven't reached Molly’s level of achievement in a year or so. There were other developments you could see coming as well. Despite those small concerns, it is definitely worth your time to watch.
