Synopsis

Barnaby’s mother-in-law makes a visit, demanding a journey to the village of Broughton, a place long marked by a simmering conflict between men and women. It falls during the annual fair, and the event takes a dark turn with the murder of Mildred Danvers, a veteran campaigner for women's rights. Then, during one of the fair’s peculiar traditional displays, the misogynistic Reverend Anthony Gant is also found dead.
