Synopsis

The young woman, mistress of a considerable estate, found herself increasingly beset by a chilling dread. It began subtly, a prickling unease that deepened with each passing day, yet stemmed from a source she herself refused to acknowledge. She had turned a blind eye to the suffering of an old tenant, dismissing his quiet desperation as an inconvenience.
