Synopsis

This is the story of the Berlin Wall, that stark barrier of division known as the “wall of shame,” which cleaved East and West Germany for nearly three decades, from 1961 to 1989. The narrative explores the daring attempts people made to flee across it, alongside the measures taken by East German authorities in response. It also recounts the momentous occasion of the Wall’s opening on November 9, 1989, a prelude to the formal reunification of East and West Germany just one year afterward.
