I often make an effort to check out new British mystery programs because they frequently rank among the very best. What initially caught my attention with this particular show were a couple of things. I’ve always been fond of Jason Watkins, who is just one example of the many talented character actors that Britain consistently produces. Also, the summary of the storyline sounded interesting. The initial, extended episode focused on the two main characters joining forces as a partnership, learning about each other's abilities and peculiarities. The intention seems to be that they’ll complement each other and function effectively together, which is what ultimately occurs after a somewhat awkward start. The mystery stories are detailed enough to justify the longer runtimes. In the two episodes released so far – I’m not sure if there will be more – the supporting members of the investigative unit weren't explored much, something that could be developed further if additional installments appear. I would definitely want to see them. Now that season 2 is available, it delivers a similar experience. Like many series, it adheres to a recognizable pattern; for instance, their supervisor consistently pressures them to resolve cases swiftly rather than thoroughly, and the individuals they suspect tend to be overconfident, dismissing the team’s capabilities, particularly Dodds’. They do expand on the other members of the investigative group, which was a positive development. One particular storyline didn't resonate with me as much as the others, but those were inventive. The series consists of only three installments, and like previous ones, they each run for 90 minutes, effectively providing double the content of a standard 45-minute episode.
