Synopsis

The morning of March 10, 1989, Air Ontario Flight 1363 plummeted to the ground moments after liftoff, resulting in the loss of all 24 souls aboard. Three years later, on March 22, 1992, USAir Flight 405 met a similar fate, crashing shortly after departing, under strikingly comparable weather conditions. In both instances, the tragedy stemmed from ice accumulation on the wings, which dramatically diminished the aircraft's ability to generate lift.
