Synopsis

On the morning of January 8, 2003, Air Midwest Flight 5481 crashed into an aircraft hangar at Charlotte/Douglas International Airport mere seconds after liftoff, en route to Greenville. The disaster claimed the lives of all twenty-one people aboard, and resulted in a single injury to a person on the ground. Subsequent investigation revealed that the pilots’ controls had been incorrectly adjusted during maintenance, and that the aircraft had been carrying an excessive load due to an outdated form
