Synopsis
On the morning of March 6, 2003, Air Algérie Flight 6289 experienced engine failure during takeoff from Aguenar – Hadj Bey Akhamok Airport in Tamanrasset, Algeria. The aircraft stalled and crashed into the desert, near the Trans-Sahara Highway, resulting in the loss of all but one of the 103 people aboard.
