Synopsis
The most devastating aviation accident in history took place on March 27, 1977, at Los Rodeos Airport in the Canary Islands, now Tenerife-North Airport. In dense fog, KLM Flight 4805 and Pan Am Flight 1736 collided on the runway as the KLM aircraft began its takeoff sequence, resulting in a loss of life for 583 people.
