Synopsis

On the morning of October 4, 1992, shortly after departing Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, El Al Flight 1862 issued a distress call. The flight crew worked diligently to execute an emergency landing, but the Boeing 747 cargo plane veered sharply to the right and crashed into an apartment complex, resulting in the deaths of forty-three people. The loss of control was attributed to the separation of the two engines on the right wing.
